When
it refers to the DJ of China,we have to say something about the DISCO
bar of our country. Without the foundation of the DISCO,the DJ of
China would never progess so fast.
It was 1987 when the PiLidance started to be popular in
China ,which is hardly konwn to the young people nowadays.It is hard
to imagine how awkward it would be if someone give a performance of
PiLidance in today's D-bar.But definitely,the prevealent of the PiLidance
made the appreance of today's professional D-bar possible and underlied
the expanding of the DISCO bar,and, the music of the PiLidance turned
up to be the origin and source of the domestic D-music today.
After
5years' preparation of PiLidance, in 1992,the first real DISCO bar
in our country appered at last.(which is called Disco-Square then)It
was the JJ Disco-Square,located at the YanAn Street in Shanghai.Mr.Ma,the
boss of the JJ Disco-Square,came from TaiWan province,who was the
first person to run a D-bar in internal land of China and was also
a very astute businessman.The JJ in Beijing,the JJ in Guangzhou were
also setted up by him.It was a great boom of JJ D-bar,thounsands of
young people went there everyday.When holidays and weekends came,it
couldn't be more prosper there.There were alien DJs,never heared crazy
music, super fashional settings and thounsands of crazy customers.Till
today ,I can't forget my feelings when I first stepped into the JJ
D-bar.
The boom of JJ D-bar in Shanghai lasted about 2 years and
then , when it came to 1994,the tide of D-bar covered all the great
cities in China.In Beijing,Guangzhou,Xi'an,Shenyang......the D-bars
s- tarted to be the bethel of the youth and some people of the continent
of China began to step onto the stages of DJ gradually.
At the beginning,the internal people of China worked on
the DJ stage as secondary roles,leading the dancers,doing some lighting
works,acting as MCs and so on.So many outstanding MCs emerged at that
moment.The foreign DJs took charge of music parts and the domestic
MCs took charge of the spot atmosphere.Gradually,this batch of MCs
turned to be the initial DJs in the internal China. Because of the
reasons we have mentioned before,most of these DJs were all-aspects
masters. Not only skilled in music,but also good at the contorlling
of the spot atmosphere.Then,in some small cities,there were few D-bars
or DJs.So,if someone wanted to start a D-bar in a city,he had to look
for the professional DJs in the D-bars of some great cities. As a
result,the DJs of that time were precious and worked with high salary
and good status.
At that time ,there were some "DJ companies" in China,which
also played an important role in the development of China DJ and also
appeared in Shanghai.The first "DJ company" ,which was called BPM
DJ company started by Mr.Yan .And then there was another DJ company
called "CrossLines" started by Mr.Wei.These two companies were prefessional
and were the cradles of the Chinese DJs.
The company "BPM" did some agent works for DJs and MCs,senting
the DJs to some big D-bars around the nation.These DJs often went
back and forth by air ,lived in luxurious hotels and got well paid
.Especially in the north area,this company had a great fame.
Compared with the "BPM",the company "CrossLine" worked
on some more aspects,such as the records, prefessional dancing CD,DJ
agent and the sales of DJ equipments.Though the price was high,most
of the DJs didn't care about that.The prosperity of "CrossLine" last
longer than that of "BPM".The main reason was that the DJs of China
progessed so fast that less and less D-bars needed the company to
sent DJs to them.After the year of 2001,the "CrossLine" gradually
fade out of the market.Then, more and more DJs appeared and the mystery
of DJ vanished.
In fact , even as one of the initial DJs of China,many
people don't understand what the "DJ" really means to us.To us ,the
"DJ" was a dream,a dream of persistence, a dream of surpassing ourselves,
a dream to be konwn by more and more people and countries,a dream
